7th January 2025 - house sold, vacated, and we make the not-so-long journey to a great campsite in Tavistock, Devon.
The drive over Dartmoor was surreal. There was snow on the ground, and it was a clear moonlit night that created a fantastic atmosphere and a feeling that this was the right adventure for us. The back of the motorhome was filled from floor to ceiling with 'stuff' we were sure we would need. However, over the next few days, we had the stark realisation that we had nowhere near enough space for everything, and more to the point, we didn't really need 2/3rds of it!
Having arrived at the campsite and unable to actually get to the oven, we decided to eat in one of our favourite pubs - The Peter Tavy Inn. A superb pub, great atmosphere and fantastic food - especially the pies!
We have eaten there many times and managed to secure one of our favourite tables by the fire.

We also decided to have their rather large Chicken and Ham pies - highly recommended if you're ever there.

Whilst we stuffed our faces and reminisced on the craziness of the moving day, our trusty dogs (Archie {Spaniel} and Ted {Labrador}) took advantage of the large wood-burning fire...

Shortly afterwards, they were curled up in the Motorhome, with slightly less space and surrounded by more 'stuff'!

Having transferred a lot of the 'stuff' from the motorhome to the car (all seats and boot stuffed) we were able to find the bed! It was about zero degrees outside, and thankfully, we found that the electric central heating works well...
We woke to a beautiful, albeit frosty, winter morning.

By the time we were up, the frost had cleared and left us a gorgeous day. We spent the next few days getting rid of stuff we really didn't need (thanks to the local charity shops) and also making many trips to our container storage.

Throughout our stay in Dartmoor, the weather was very kind to us and we were gifted with beautiful evenings..

We were right on the edge of the moor. Unfortunately, our labrador (Ted) was recovering from a broken leg and we couldn't walk far. However, being just inside the boundaries of Dartmoor, we had plenty of fantastic places nearby for short wanders.

Having recharged our batteries and lightened the load in the Motorhome, we set off to the Forest of Dean, where my gorgeous wife was born!
